La Red Health Center Adds A New Pediatrician!

Nieves Zaldivar, M.D., F.A.A.P.

La Red Health Center, (LRHC) is thrilled to announce that Nieves Zaldivar, M.D., F.A.A.P. has joined LRHC and will work primarily out of the new Milford Office located at 1 Sussex Avenue, Milford DE 19963

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Dr. Zaldivar to our LRHC family,” stated Mary Kay Rosolie, Director of Human Resources. “Dr. Zaldivar is a highly regarded pediatrician with a strong following in Sussex County. Her background is perfectly suited to help us continue to provide for the unique physical, emotional and behavioral needs of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.”

Dr. Zaldivar received her M.D from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Institute of Havana in Cuba. She has over thirty years of clinical experience, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Zaldivar is also active in a number or organizations including the American Medical Association, American College of Physician Executives, and the National Association of Managed Care Physicians.
Dr. Zaldivar has received numerous honors and awards including being a Herman Muehlstein Scholar at the Muehlstein Foundation in New York and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She has also authored and published many papers including: The Impact of Welfare Sanctions on the Health of Infants and Toddlers.

Dr. Zaldivar is a familiar face for many in Sussex County as she comes to LRHC from the Nemours Pediatric Clinics in Milford and Seaford where she was a staff pediatrician. Per Dr. Zaldivar, “I am excited to bring my extensive experience as a clinician and as an administrator to La Red Health Center. I believe that the diverse children of Sussex County deserve the very best healthcare.” Dr. Zaldivar is now accepting new patients and is welcoming patients from her previous practice.
The opening of the Milford Health center was made possible via the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, which awarded a 2015 New Access Point Grant Award to LRHC to address the significant amount of unmet health care needs that currently exist in the northern Sussex County area.

feature_005Vaccines for Children LRHC’s pediatricians are partners in a child’s health. From immunizations to school physicals, they offer the specialized skills needed to provide tailored, comprehensive health care for a child’s ever-changing physical and emotional needs.
As a leading provider of medical, dental and mental health services in Sussex County, Delaware, LRHC has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, (NCQA) as a Level III Patient- Centered Medical Home,(PCMH) at both its Georgetown and Seaford Sites and is currently seeking NCQA specialty recognition as a PCMH for its Prenatal and Behavioral Health programs, which are being integrated into the overall PCMH model. LRHC will also be pursuing NCQA recognition for the Milford site in 2016.

LRHC’s medical services are available to all individuals regardless of gender, age, race, ethnic origin, religion, language, sexual orientation, or ability to pay.

LRHC offers a sliding fee scale based on income and family size for uninsured patients, and accepts Medicare and Medicaid, most commercial insurance plans, and most plans available through the Delaware Marketplace. Patients can also receive assistance to fill out Medicaid applications, obtain free or discounted prescription drugs, and under certain circumstances obtain transportation assistance if it is available.
